I found the following obituary and am posting it in case others might find it helpful. Mary Roxanna Rhyne Stroup was born 4 Oct 1840 in Gaston County and died 12 May 1909, also in Gaston County.

Please note: I am not related to this family so I don't have any other information.

Gastonia, May 14.--Following an illness of a month or more, Mrs. Mary Rozanna Stroup, wife of Mr. W. W. Stroup, died Wednesday at her home about three miles southeast of Gastonia. Funeral services were held at Chapel Lutheran church yesterday afternoon, conducted by the pastor, Rev. W. J. Boger, which were followed by interment in the Chapel church cemetery. Deceased was 68 years of age and was the daughter of the late Mr. Jacob Rhyne, of this county. She is survived by her husband and four sons--Messrs. Miles and Silas Stroup of Richmond, Va.; Mr. John Stroup, who lives near Stanley, and Mr. Ambrose Stroup, at the home place. She leaves the following brothers and sisters: Messrs. William and Laban Rhyne, of the county; Mrs. A. B. Rhyne, of Gastonia; Mrs. Adeline Rhodes, of Stanley; Mrs. Ann Holland, of Dallas; Mrs. Alice Horsley, of the Bethesda neighborhood, and one other brother, James, living at the home place. Mrs. Stroup had many other relatives in the county who, together with a host of friends, mourn because of her departure.
