This is Michael Riesberg sending. I reside in Pensacola, Florida. My late father is Van Vechten Riesberg Jr. My father was an engineer with General Motors. My father's father was Van Vechten Riesberg Sr who resided in Philadelphia as well as New Jersey. My father's mother was Katherine Becker. Van Vechten Riesberg Sr was an inventor. His most famous patent was for a ballpoint pen design in 1912==which unfortunately never went into production. He also invented a steam radiator relief valve. During prohibition, he and my grandmother were bootleggers using a gas station in New Jersey as a "front". I have been told that she was a good ice skater. Van Vechten Sr's father, Werner Riesberg, was a chemist who came from Germany in the mid 1800's. He apparently settled in Savannah Georgia and was in the Civil War. He apparently survived and apparently re-located to Philadelphia----although it is at this point that the family history gets confusing and sketchy. During the Depression, Van Riesberg Sr left the family and apparently died a mysterious death------nobody knows the exact date and location. My father, his sister (Ida Mae Riesberg/Fedoruk) and his brother Jacob Becker Riesberg (who currently resides in Philadelphia with his wife Pat) resided with their mom (Katherine) in a squatters village in what was Grassy Sounds outside of Wildwood New Jersey. My father went on to Indiana to attend college---then to California where he eventually went to work for General Motors. Jacob and his wife Patricia have 3 children (my cousins)-----Janet Riesberg who also lives here in Pensacola, Jonathan Riesberg who lives with his wife Mary in Norristown Pennsylvania, and Joyce Riesberg/Rubey who lives in Memphis. I am interested in learning more about my family and heritage . I hope this helps. Question---- Are you a Riesberg descendent or are you helping find information for the Riesberg family? Thanks.
