"A Short History of Page County, Virginia" by Harry M. Strickler pg 71 states that "Elizabeth, married Jacob Cochenour. She is said to be aged 12 at the time of the massacre." It also states that "Esther, the baby, carried into the tall hemp by her sister, married Dr.Jacob Kauffman." The book also states that Joseph left his father's home in 1754 and that it was to his home in the Ida Valley where babt Esther was carried by her sister Elizabeth after the massacre. I purchased the book while visiting the Luray Chamber of Commerce offices this past October and it contains a lot of information about the pioneer families that settled in the Shenandoah Valley.
