Afraid they have made a leap of faith there... Not properly MacRobb at all...
MacRobb did exist as a surname but was much less common than simply Robb. Along with the MacFarlanes MacRobb as a sept comes from the Stewarts of Appin - descendants of Robert Stewart son of Dugald 1st of Appin.
(Roberet MacRobb Stewart of Lettermore fought for Charles Edward Stuart in the '45.
The Callendar example is a small sept of Buchanan of Leny in N.Perthshire. Both these groups were small in number.
The aristocratic Robb of Timpany family (settled at Ballynahinch and Timpany House) originate from James Robb who arrived in Ireland in 1660. I believe most of the Plantation Robbs would have been Protestant lowlanders rather than MacRobb highlanders - but everyone likes the tartan..
