Laughton-en-le-Morthern and Whiston origins

My Roddis lines originates in the South Yorkshire village of Whiston. Specifically there is a significant and distinct branch of this family that settles in Laughton-en-le-Morthern before the marriage of Thomas and Mary (nee Howarth) around 1806/7. They have several children christened at the parish church amongst whom Ann marries my ancestor Samuel Robinson at Treeton parish church in 1844. The roddis line continues to flourish in Laughton well into the 20th century. The family is also realted to a Guest family of whom Albert died in 1961 as a blacksmith in the village.

There is a very intertesiing book on another part of the Whiston branch of Roddis as they owned quarries for a number of years in the Rotherham area,
