Jane Rodes was the daugher of Charles Rodes II and Amy Duke, b. before 1751, m. 7 Dec. 1772 "with consent of father, not of lawful age, Nathaniel Garland of Albemarle." At the time of marriage, they were probably living in Nelson Co. VA near Charlottesville (now Wintergreen Resort). Charles II was the son of John Rodes I and wife Mary Crawford; John Rodes I was the son of Charles Rodes I and wife (?) Frances?. Charles emigrated to America ca 1676 and was b. in Sturton Parish, Nottinghamshire, Eng. b. Mar. 24 1661.
Amy Duke was my 4th great grandmother and I have been searching for many years to identify her parents but no success yet. Believe her to be of the family of Henry Duke, Councillor. I may be contacted at: billjrhodes@comcast.net
