Our REEDS family has a 35/37 marker match to RODES. My earliest ancestor--Samuel REEDS--d. 1698 Westmoreland Co., Va. He was supposedly b. c. 1645 Va. His first son was John (Jane Claytor)and his second William b. 1674 (Ann Halbert, Abigail-widow Kendall). The daughters were Margaret(John Piper), Mary 1676 and Elizabeth

I have a reliable book "Va Immigrants and Adventurers 1607-1635 By Martha McCARTNEY who lists
Roger RODES (REDES, ROEDS) living at the neck of land, indentured servant to Thomas ALNUTT. Roger arrived 9/12/1623 aboard the Bonny Bess. He stated that he was 19 and from Dowton in Wiltshire, England. Feb. 24,1624 he was living at the Thomas ALLNUTT Plantation in the Neck of Land behind Jamestown Island. The following year (1625) he was in the town of Jamestown and still indentured to Thomas ALLNUTT.

Also in the 1607-1635 Time frame is William RODES who died in Jamestown 8/27/1607.

Also "Christopher RODES, a laborer, arrived in Virginia in January 1608 as part of the first supply of new settlers"

Also a Dorothy RODES living near Tappahannah, Va in 1629.

Also a Stephen READ (READE, REEDE, REEDES) a vagrant from Bridewell sent to Virginia on the George in 1619 and lived in Elizabethtown in the home of Edward Waters.

Anyone with REEDS/READS/REDES , etc.? Anything to help me ID ancestors of my Samuel?
