Your message sounds like some of my ancestors from Fayette County, West Virginia. There was a small town names Gatewood, where some of David Rodes Children and grand children lived. My great grandmother was Jane Rodes and she married a Jefferies. Sarah, Caroline, Abbie, Emlie and Charles were their children. Sarah married Sylvanus Elkins and they were my grandparents. I have most of the Rodes ancestry traced to Sir Girard de Rodes, Feudal Lord of Horn Castle 1154AD
