I purchased the subject undated studio portrait identified on the back:
"Mary Roth Henry Roth
George Roth Anna Harding Roth
Father, aunt & grandparents
of
Lorraine Roth Randolph
and
Elinor Roth Chriss?an"
I found this family listed in the 1990, 1910, and 1920 Census data for Santa Clara, Santa Clara Co., CA.
George Roth was born May 1841 in Germany (immigrated 1860). About 1883 George married Anna Harding, born about 1848 in Germany (immigrated 1859). The family resided at 1290 Bellony Street in 1900 and 1910, and resided at 1526 Franklin Street in 1920. George was a farmer. Anna is shown as a widow in the 1920 enumeration. They had two children--Mary F., born 4 Apr 1881 in CA, died 20 Feb 1967 in Santa Clara Co., CA; and Henry F., born Sep 1883. Evidently Mary F. Roth never married. About 1908, Henry F. Roth married Ellen Medlund, born about 1891 in IL, and they had two children--Elinor (married name Chriss?an), born about 1911 in CA; and Lorraine (married name Randolph), born 10 Jan 1914 in CA, died 2 Aug 1994 in Monterey Co., CA.
