Roughton Family Genealogy Forum

Good afternoon,I came across the name Roughton whilst searching for my mother-in-laws details. I notice that there are no UK connections posted on this site, but my maiden name was Roughton (pronounced rawton) My father's family originated in Cambridgeshire England, and travelled up to the North East of England to work in the iron ore mines. My father Frederick Arthur Roughton was born on 9 March 1913 in Saltburn his father before him was also born in the North East of England a few miles from Saltburn but and appereared on the 1851 town census. My father was awarded the MBE during World War II for the laying and recovery of PLUTO (Pipeline under the Ocean)which was a secret war-time operation the assist in the D Day landings. I would be very interested to find out if anyone in the States is related to us.
