Thank you for your response. I cannot say that there is any close connection between my Elizabrth Rupe (who was born and likely died long BEFORE the Civil War) and your grandfather who was not born until well AFTER World War I. Your grandfather might be a descendant of a brother or cousin of my Elizabeth (Rupe) Hege.

But, it is good to know that their are some Rupe's out there. It seems you can ascertain the NAMES of your grandfather's parents (RUPE) from his Kansas birth certificate. You might want to look into that.
