I am reposting this information request regarding my GG-Grandmother and her ancestry. Augusta Salisbury ROGERS was b. c1826 in New York. (One of my sources indicates she may have been born on Manhatten Island - but no documentation found to date.) I found reference to her mother in the 1880 Census: Mercy ROGERS - then widowed. I do not know Mercy's maiden name but it certainly could be SALISBURY. The census states Mercy was born in NY c1798 and both her parents were born in CT. I have found no information regarding Mercy's husband / Augusta's father which fits the known critera. Since Augusta married Andrew Brindley ("A. B.") McCONNELL on 10 September 1843 in Eaton Township, Madison County, NY, it is probable her family lived in that area. After their marriage, Augusta returned with A.B. to his farm near Springfield, Sangamon County, Illinois where he had settled with many McCONNELL family members. Their first child was born in 1845. Augusta died at their farm on 3 May 1878. She is buried at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Springfield, Sangamon County, Illinois. Andrew Brindley McCONNELL was born in Madison County, N.Y., five miles south of Morrisville, January 28, 1821. His parents were James and Sarah (Smith) McCONNELL. They moved to the Eaton area before removing to their new Illinois homes. A.B. McCONNELL and Augusta Salisbury ROGERS had the following children: 1) Mercy Adelia - b. 1845 (m. Micajah Wickliffe DeWitt SMITH) 2) Franklin Rogers - b. 1847 (m. Harriet Isabelle (Belle) MERRIMAN) 3) Edward O. - b. 1848 (m. Luella PATTERSON) 4) Sarah Adeline - b. 1851 (m. Simon Willis MERRIMAN) 5) John D. ('J.D.') - b. 1855 (m. Emma RICHARDS) 6) William A. - b. 1857 (m. Adeline BERRIMAN) 7) Augusta - b. 1864 (m. Will Reuben WEBSTER) 8) Andrew D. ('A.D. or Richard?) - b. c1865 (m. Laura UNKNOWN) Augusta and her parents are one of my brick walls. I would really appreciate any information or suggestions. The McCONNELL's attended the Congregational Church in Illinois - perhaps they did in NY as well. Thank you for any help you might be able to share. Diane Notify Administrator about this message?
