hello all, i am very curious about this particular painting as I believe that I bought it at an estate sale from Massachusetts a few years ago. I have tried and tried to get someone to lead me in the right direction as to the whereabouts of this portrait because it seems unbelievable to me that I might actually possess it. It is very dirty and heavily damaged (has a large hole from just underneath the top shirt button to his mid section) but it is at the very least an uncanny copy that is very, very old. If there has been any new developments in regard to this subject, please pass them along.
William, you say that "you don't have it".... are you a descendant of the family? Is there any information you can provide? Does anybody know when the last time its location was verified? There is nothing on line in the way of a picture other than the old photo in wiki that says the photo itself pre-dates 1921...
If anyone has anything to add or can lead me to someone who might know more, it would be greatly appreciated.
Greg
