In March 2007, my new book (Volume I) of "The Sons and Daughters of Sams" was published. My new book is based on the "Sams Family of Virginia" published in 1981 by the late Dr. Crawford F. Sams, the late Conway C. Sams and the late Colonel Robert C. Hackett.
Volume One of "The Sons and Daughters of Sams" contains the first eight Sams generations on American soil, beginning with William Sams b 1640 and his wife Mary, parents of James Sams, Sr. born 1686/94 Essex Co., VA who died 6 Dec 1726 Pikes Run, Spotsylvania Co., VA who married Kathryn Allyn Tolbut born 24 May 1685 Spotsylvania Co., VA and died Jun 1739 VA. James Sams, Sr. is my 7th Great Grandfather.
Volume I is 856 pages; 3,700+ individuals; and
7,533 sources, citations, notes and family history.
Volume II will present about 300 ancestral photos of individuals and families with an easy-to-find index corresponding to Volume One.
Volume III will contain the remaining generations plus any corrections or additions to Volumes I and II, that have been researched since Volume I was published.
Volumes Two and Three are slated to be published in the fall of 2007.
You may contact me at for details on the purchase of the book(s). They are selling quickly.
I currently have 34,064 individuals in my Sams (and related families) database, and I am willing to do some lookups for folks searching for their ancestries.
