I was curious if anyone knows anything about Toxaway Station, a military outpost of some sort that was located in Pendleton District in the 1790s. I am not related to any of the folks listed below, but like a lot of other folks, I had relatives who lived near the Toxaway River, and was just curious about the area's history. The only references I have seen to Toxaway Station are the following entries from the published South Carolina law books: From: Acts and resolutions of the General Assembly, of the state of South-Carolina. Passed in Nov. and Dec. 1795 [The entries from this volume are in pounds, shillings, pence; the entries from the last two books are in dollars and cents.] p.8: no. 78. James Blair, for acting as a spy, from November 9, 1793, to May 5, 1794, under Captain Wellborn, at the Toxaway Station 41 1 4 p.11: 101. Kinney Finley, for acting as a spy, at the Toxaway Station, from May 23, to Oct. 31, 1794, inclusive, under the command of Captain J. Blair 37 16 0 p.13: 129. Lieutenant Jacob Womack’s pay-bill, for self, one sergeant, one fifer, and thirteen privates, infantry, for duty done at Toxaway station, from Nov.1, 1793, to April 15, 1794 128 17 6 p.21: 125. John Barton, for forage for a spy’s horse, from December 1, 1793, to May 2, 1794, inclusive, under Captain J.
