Hi, Marianne. My great, great grandfather, Charles F. Schmidtke emigrated around 1856 from the Konigsberg area to New York City. I have no information on any family he left behind in Prussia. He came to the State of Texas after the American Civil War to a small town called Bandera. He did well there, eventually being a partner in the ownership of the town mill and a general store.
