Hi Marianne, There still may be a connection with August Schmidtke. He would be my great-great-grandfather. Otto Richard Schmidtke be one of his sons( and my great grandfather). l have no idea of either my great grandmother nor my great-great-grandmothers names would be.The only info l have on Otto was that he was born August 27 1903(l hope that is accurate) married Alwine in December 1923 and he died in 1980--l suspect in Germany. He was in WWII and was posted in a POW camp in/around Egypt. When released from the POW camp, from what l understand he didn't go back to Alwine and started a new life. He obviously remarried, because he had five more children in the second marriage. l know for a fact that the children from the first marriage all reside in Germany. Children from the second could be anywhere an l hope to connect up with one to help fill in the pieces. l suspect these children would have been born AFTER WWII and more like after 1948 depending on when they were released unless he was having an affair before the war. He would have been an older soldier in his thirties. l presently am trying to get a military record to give a more accurate date. It would be nice to get an obituary for an accurate death date. Hope this helps a little
