Good morning Dorothy. - The University of South Dakota (at Vermillion) is only seven miles from Meckling. They have boxes full of microfilm rolls of local newspapers. The Vermillion Standard and Vermillion Plain Talk are what you need to scan. The trick is finding someone to read them for you. - Just google the University of South Dakota for their home page and look for the "I. D. Weeks Library." Ask them how you could have the pages read. 1892 is well within the range of their microfilms as I have read the 1878 Vermillion Standard there. - There is a DAR chapter...well, there used to be one...I haven't lived in Vermillion for several years...but I would suggest you try this too. There is a Vermillion home page and I would try that to see if they still have a link to the Vermillion City Library. It's a little out of their league but you could ask them who is associated with the DAR chapter and hope one of the members will take on the challenge. Notify Administrator about this message?
