This isn't my family, but there might be an indirect connection. My gggrandfather's sister-in-law was Elisabeth "Lizzie" [WEEDEN] HEWITT (1833 - 1880). In 1880, she was listed as 42 {sic}, VT VT VT; divorced, living with my gggrfr. E[than] A[llen] STARK & [second wf.] Amanda, Vernon Co., WI.
Do you have the name of the 1899 book that said Willard was married? Do you have further information about his family?
