Sorry, I'm floundering around on some of the descendants of the Samuels, too. I agree that there are probably more than four children of Samuel SELBY and Ann WILLIAMS, but the only ones I have are Samuel, who d. 24 Mar. 1838, Ligonier T., Westmoreland Co., PA; Charles Washington; Sarah Amelia, b. 8 May 1784; & Rosamond H., b. 30 May 1786. Do you have anything more about Mary, b. ca. 1775?

Charles Washington SELBY (ca. 177[?], MD - 18 Mar. 184[5/7?] aged 79, Greenfield Twp., LaGrange Co., IN) m. Elizabeth SELBY, 26 Mar. 1797, Allegany Co., MD, by Rev. Wm. SHAW. Elizabeth died in Ohio. Charles W. & Elizabeth's (youngest?) dau. Ann/Nancy, b. ca. 1816, OH, m. Samuel PARHAM and lived at Pretty Prairie, IN. Chas. W. probably also had Charles R., (ca. 1800, MD - 18__) m1. ca. 1828, Mary _; m2. 17 D 1840, LaG. Co., IN, Naomi [BARR] MILLER. [from Robert L. Selby, Sturgis, MI; & David Renshaw, Coldwater, MI.] Another son of Charles W. might be Samuel SELBY (1804, MD - 1867, Lima, LaG. Co., IN), who m. 5 Aug. 1824, Fairfield Co., OH, Eliz. Rebecca COLE (Feb. 1805, OH _ 2 Apr. 1891, bu. Pretty Prairie) [from Judy Selby, Sonora, CA].

Other Fairfield Co., OH, SELBY marriages from that era are

Thomas, Mar. 1806, "Kitty" HAYES [Catharine HAY (31 May 1780, Berkeley Co., [W] VA - 9 Aug. 1830, Ashland Co., OH, bu. Jeromesville Methodist Cem., d/o (J.) Adam HAY & (A.) Mary BOYER].
Ralph, Mar. 1806, Peggy CARPENTER
Susanna, Oct. 1817, John STEALY
Peggy, Nov. 1817, Geo. SOUSER
Julian(n), Jan. 1818, Isaac GARDNER [Juliann = d/o Eli].
Ann, Feb. 1821, Moses HAY.

I think you accidentally wrote Wm. Howe SELBY instead of Eli SELBY. Eli's family is given in SELBY > #270, and Wm. Howe SELBY's in my message.

Have you found proof that the Samuel who married Amelia HARRIS was son of William SELBY's second rather than first wife? I know that Donna V. Russell says that only Wm. M. was son of the first wife, since his grandmother Sarah MAGRUDER's will named only one grandson. However, I've always thought that Samuel SELBY, b. ca. 1710, might have been named for his grandfather Samuel MAGRUDER. Sarah MAGRUDER SELBY lived long enough to have had another son because her father named her when he made his will 23 Nov. 1710.
