I haven't discovered any link between these individuals and my family, but I hope the information I've put online on my web site helps someone else in their research.

My Shields ancestors are Alexander Cowan Shields, b. 27 Dec 1826 in Mecklenburg Co., NC - d. 9 Sep 1899 in Mecklenburg Co., NC; buried at Hopewell Presbyterian Church, Mecklenburg Co., NC. He is the son of William Shields, b. ca 1804 in Mecklenburg Co., NC & listed on the 1 Aug 1850 Cabarrus Co., NC Census w/ Alexander Cowan Shields, Mary E. Shields, James H. Shields & John L. Shields.

Alexander Cowan Shields married on 24 Oct 1824 to Jane Ailene Henderson, daughter of James & Jane Henderson of Mecklenburg Co., NC.

Jane Ailene Henderson Shields was b. 24 Oct 1824 - d. 22 Apr 1898, probably in Mecklenburg Co., NC. She is also buried at Hopewell Presbyterian Church, Mecklenburg Co., NC.
