James Shields generously shared transcriptions he has of William Chapman Shields 13 page biography/diary & 14 page Civil War (Confederate Service) Diary which I have put on my rootsweb web site. I haven't discovered any connection between William Chapman Shields family & my ancestors -- I am a descendant of Alexander Cowan and Jane Ailene Henderson Shields of Mecklenburg Co., NC.
Hope these records help someone with their research. Comments, additions, etc. are welcome & please let me know if you have Shields (or related family) records you're willing to share with other researchers by sending it to me to be placed on the web site.
