Ben did not provide for his children and wife. Ben and Mamie were divorced in Nov 18 1909 in Kansas City, Kansas. The children were separated from their mother at the time of the divorce. LeRoy, Ray and Fred were placed on the "Orphan Train" and taken in by two different families in Kansas. They stayed in touch through the years and resided together in South Dakota and later in Idaho where they died. Bennie was placed with a family as a infant and Mamie was not allowed contact with him. It was often stated that Bennie was a "sickly" child, but know one knows what happened to him. Baby Mamie was placed with a RICE family in Lawrence, KS. What became of her is also unknown.
Mamie (mother) remarried Joseph Broviak BROPHY b Feb 15 1870 in Germany, d Mar 11 1946 in Kansas City, MO.
