Col Joshua W Sill

I am doing research on Civil War Union Col Joshua W Sill and his commanding officer General Ormsby Mcknight Mitchell. Ormsby Mcknight Mitchell went to West Point with Robert E Lee class of 1829. Meriwether Lewis Clark, the son of William Clark of the Lewis and Clark Expedition out of Pittsburgh, also went to West Point class of 1830.

I am trying to connect Col Joshua Sill's family to another Sill family in Pittsburgh buried with the Lewis and Mitchell family members of General Ormsby Mcknight Mitchell. One of the family members buried in the lot is Col Jesse Sill of the War of 1812.

Other members are Ann, Elizabeth, Jane, John, Margaret, Susan, William all with the last name Sill. Most died a few years before the Civil War.

The family headstone titled "SILL" is over 30 ft high and would cost over one million dollars to replace so this was a wealthy family. They might be related to J Edger Thompson and Andrew Carnegie through the Morrison family of Andrew Carnegie's mother Elizabeth Morrsion.

Union General Ormsby Mcknight Mitchell and Col Joshua W Sill were involved in an operation trying to steal J Edger Thompson's train named "The General" out of Atlanta in the spring of 1862.
