Hannah Simpkins was the daughter of Jeremiah Simpkins, who was the son of Vincent Simpkins. She married James Platt of Saddleworth, England on 18 April 1787 at the Church of Christ, Salem, Westchester Co., New York. Here is more information on Jeremiah. Information taken from the SAR application of Horace Ludington, dated April 28, 1914. Jeremiah was a private in Captain Henry Goodwin's Co., Lewis Duboys Regiment. Commission 4 Mar 1777. Was in Schoharry in 1780. Westchester Muster Rolls: Jeremiah Simpkins enlisted on April 12, 1759. He was 25 years old, born at Bedford and a laborer. He enlisted in Capt. Cranes Co., by Capt. Holmes. He was 6 ft. tall, had black eyes, brown hair, and a dark complexion. Jeremiah's death is found in the records of the Church of Christ in Salem, Westchester Co., New York. death: 19 May 1788. Jeremiah and Rachel Simpkins had: Reuben b. abt 1763, a son, b abt. 1764, Phebe b. abt 1765 (Married Zalmon Ludington), Isaac b. 2 Sept 1767 (married Hannah), Hannah b abt. 1768 (Married James Platt), Sarah b. abt 1770 (married William Blake), and Gilbert b abt.1772 (married Clarissa).
