I have read several of these posts over the years & finally decided to ask for help. My Simpkins line going back in time is, Willard E. Simpkins 1916-1974, Arthur Hayes Simpkins 1887-1972, James P. Simpkins 1846-1917??. James P. evidently married two Holt girls, Louisa F. Holt in 1869 & Tennessee Holt in 1885. The 1900 census shows James, Tennessee & 11 children, 2 grandchildren all living together. WOW. The third child in the list appears to be Arthur, but it is not written very clearly.
This is where my real problem starts. In the 1860 census there is a Simpkins family with E. Simpkins as the head & A. Simpkins, his wife. Who is E. & A.? They have a 13 year old son named James. Is this is the correct James? Does anyone know if I am in the ballpark with this? If I am, how do I tie E. Simpkins back to the Father & his 3 sons that came here to Davidson county TN from NC in the late 1700's? Thanks for any help.
