Hello, I'm new to the forum and wanted to seek out more info on Robert Simpkins Sr's parents, possibly James Simpkins I and Ann Badeau, b. 1735 d. 1795. Thanks to another member's research (shared with me by my brother Robert Simpkins of California)we have established our lineage back as far as Robert Simpkins Senior (we are great-grandchildren of Ennis Simpkins, whose father was Stephen Simpkins, Civil War solider and resident of Pulaski Co, VA, and his father was Absalom, son of Robert Sr.). My notes say that Robert was born 31 March 1749 in Dutchess County, NY and he died 12 Jan 1834 in Montgomery Co, VA, but others suggest he was born in Pulaski Co, VA and died in Montgomery Co. Can our NY Simpkins expert shed any light on this? Was this James I, born in 1729 the same James who fought in the Revolutionary War along with his brother Daniel at the Battle of Point Pleasant in 1779, in John Murray's Company of Volunteers of Botetourt County? Could he have been born in Bedford, NY in 1717 and died in Philipstown, NY in 1801, as some records suggest instead? And who were James's parents? Was he in fact a son of Vincent Simpkins, of the New Haven colony, himself the son of Captain Nicholas Simpkins? I now live in Englad and am keen to trace this line back to the original British immigrant, as then I can personally go and check parish records. If the line I lay out can be documented, then I could research Nicholas Simpkins, tailor and draper of Burcot, Northhamptonshire, born 1600 in England and the first Captain of the Castle in Boston. But I am fuzzy about who precedes Robert Simpkins Sr.! Many thanks in advance! Tina Notify Administrator about this message?
