Roberta, I just read your message and I have a bit of information on a William Schlunugger of the Richland Co, Illinois area. I have his marriage license, he married Ella McKinnell (spelling varies) she was my great great great Aunt. Their license has the following information.
William Schlunegger of Bonpas town, Richland Co, IL age 30, to Miss Ella McKinnell of Bonpas Town, Richland Co, IL age 18. License is dated 31 Dec 1883, they were married on 1 Jan 1884, by David S. Curry, Justice of the Peace.
On back of license it has the following information:
Groom. William Schlunaker, Bonpas Town, Farmer, next birthday 31years, Color: White, Race: German, place of birth Germany, father:
Peter Schlunaker, mother: Marbra Gerth, ( her first name is really hard to read)
He ( William) Signs his last name as Schlunegger.
