George W. Slonaker (b. 1846)lived to be over 100 years old and was the last surviving Confederate soldier in Hampshire Co. He has been honored at his gravesite in Parks Hollow during Hampshire Heritage Days held each fall. He was a member of Company F, C.S.A, served about one year, then was taken prisoner. He spent three months at Camp Chase and twenty months at Fort Delaware.
