I found this entry in the book "South Carolina Memorials of Land Titles 1774-1776 Volume I" abstracted by Jesse Hogan Motes II and Margaret Peckham Motes, 1996, Southern Historical Press, Inc., Greenville, South Carolina. (p 173)

William Clay Snipes, 7 Dec 1774: 200 acres in Colleton County, St. Bartholemew Parish, part of 500 acres granted 6 Apr. 1733 to Wm. Eberson, upon whose death descended to Thomas Eberson, his nephew and heir at law, and by his last will devised to his daughter, Mary Hardin; and by her, together with her three children, Wm. Harden, Rebecca White and Chas. Hardin, conveyed to Elias Horry. Bounded N on Henry Micheau; W on said 500 acres, now or lately in possession of said Mary Hardin, Wm. and Charles Hardin and Rebecca White; E on other part of said 500 acres, now or late in possession of Sarah Deveaux; S vacant. Conveyed 21-22 June 1771 to said Horry. Also, 100 acres, as above. Bounded NE on land now or late of Benjn. Huger; NW on Elias Horry; SW owner unknown; SE on John Ward. Originally granted 28 Nov. 1771 to Wm. Clay Snipes, and by him conveyed 10-11 Dec 1771 to Elias Horry. Also, 400 acres as above. Bounded SE on Benjamin Huger; SW vacant land and unknown; NW vacant. Originally granted 2 July 1771 to Elias Horry. Also, 417 1/4 acres, a half moiety of 835 1/2 acres; which was composed of three tracts containing 500, 295 1/4 and 40 acres lying contigeous to one another on Horse Shoe Savannah in Colleton County. Bounded N on Young and Wm. Cattell; E on Lownde, Dr. Skirving, Wm. Mitchell and Young; S on Lownde and estate of Elizh. Gibbs; W on Wm. Eberson and Wm. Cattell. The said tract of 835 1/2 acres, by divers conveyances became property of Wm. Brandford, dec'd, and by his last will descented the above 417 1/4 acres to his daughter, Elizah, now wife of Elias Horry. The above four tracts of 200, 100, 400, and 417 1/4 acres, amaking 1117 1/4 acres was sold by Elias Horry, Jr. and Elizabeth, his wife, to Wm. Clay Snipes, by L & R 16-17 Nov 1773. Also, 417 1/4 acres, being the moiety, or half part, of the above 835 1/2 acres, as above. By divers conveyances, became property of Wm. Brandford, dec'd, and by his last will becames vested in his daughter, Ann, now wife of Thomas Horry. Thomas Horry, and Ann, his wife, conveyed to William Clay Snipes, the memorialist, by L & R 21-22 Nov 1774. Delivered 6 Mar. 1774 to Stephen Sharp. [13-141:0]
