I'm sorry but I do not have any Sophie Laporte as a child of Moise Sorel dit Laporte. The children of Moise (b September 10,1816 in Redford NY, d September 10,1896) and Mary Bissonette were Moise jr, Joseph, Eli, Michael, Antoine, Olive and Melvina (I list only the children who survived past age of 2).
Denise Gorkas has a slightly diffrent list of children. If you are researching the Laporte she is a very good contact. She list the children as Hilaire, Magloire (April 30,1853), Antoine (August 10,1856), Olive (June 19,1858), Melvina, Eli and Joseph.
I have Olive Laporte married to William Trembley and Melvina Married to Francis Henault.
The birth date that you have for Sophie would make her older then all of the other children. Denise has Hilaire (1st child) marry Catherine Loson/Lauzon on October 21, 1867.
If I were you I would try to find Sophie's birth certificate or marriage certificate (both would show her parents names). Barring this you could try the census roll of NY. Sophie may have been a nickname.
