Thank you for that information. It is very helpful. I understand this Charles had a brother and father who also served in the 1st Alabama. I did find out that Charles & Mary eventually settled in Tarrant County, Texas and are both buried in the Oakwood Cemetery in Fort Worth, Texas. I wish I knew his wife's maiden name. I believe her first husband was my ggggrandfather, Wiseman Holcomb(e), who died shortly after enlisting in the 1st Alabama. My investigation continues.
