Martha,

Do you have any evidence that John and Robert were unionist who might have joined the union army from South Carolina? There were not many of those from South Carolina. If they were not, perhaps this is not the right forum to try to get that type of information. Go here:

Ask the same question. I would suggest putting both names and the month they were killed in the heading of your message. Someone there will likely be able to identify the unit they were in (likely the same unit). When they are identified you can order their service records (including widows pensions, if there were any) right there on the message board.
