Union loyalists in Mississippi

I'm helping a friend of my mother's try to locate an area of Unionist sentiment in Mississippi where she had family. Her relatives think it was somewhere between Meridian and Ellisville. I know that Unionists tended to live in the eastern part of the state, but I thought it was further north. Any suggestions?
