Need help please - identify uniform?

Have 4 pictures of Frederick Wheeler Palmer who was a surgeon & served in the Spanish American War in Cuba and the Phillipines. Have tentavely identified 2 pictures as uniform of Army V-Corps, medical insignia on left collar. He supposedly accompanied the first shipload (name of ship?) of injured from Cuba back to the US and then was wounded in the Phillipines, returned to MI to join his father's medical practice. The other two pictures show him still quite young in what looks to me to be a dress uniform, holding sword with acorn tip. Am wondering if this uniform is still from the Sp-Am War or perhaps later? Not found in 1900 or 1930 but in 1910 is at Fort William Seward in Juneau Alaska and 1920 at Camp Travis in TX as Colonel, but too old then for the pictures. I can email the pictures if anyone could help....OK to email me direct at karimagameel@yahoo.com. Thanks so much!
