It's been about 20 years since I've done any research on my family but I won't mind pulling some of my research out. I believe William is the one who owned the Spray Bar or something .. I have an old picture of William holding his son, Luis, on his lap. I believe Luis later lost his site but I cannot recall why. Frederick Sprain (I have a copy of his naturalization paper where he could only sign his name) Frederick was married to Louisa and I believe he settled in Ohio first and was later joined by Louisa and their son, William Henry. I have land documents where one brother bought or sold to another and on one of the documents, although these are brothers!, they each spell the last name differently: Spray and Sprain. I have had Old German Handwriting analizers look at Frederick's signature and we all agree the way he spelled the name is Sprain. We all know how the original spellings get lost in translation. I think I also have the cemetery records for Frederick and Louisa. My grandfather was Carl Frederick Spray and his father was Herman??? My mind just went blank! lol Anyway, Herman was one of Frederick and Louisa's sons I think. On the picture I have of William in front of his bar, there is a sign on the building (looks more like a little wooden shack from what I recall) that says "Beer 5 cents"
I saw a post where someone was asking about a David Spray in Virginia. David is my Uncle, along with Ricky and Jerry is my father. They are all the sons of my grandparents Carl Frederick Spray and Dora Leah Eubanks, who are both now deceased. David and my father, Jerry, were both in the military. David a marine and my father first in the Army and retired as a Major in the Air Force. My father now lives in Virginia, as does their other brother, Ricky. I believe David is now actually in DC.
