My great-grandmother was Sophia Stephany, born May 31, 1845. Her parents were Israel Stephany and Leah Levy. At the time, their address was 79 Tower St., Westminster, Southwark, Surrey, London.

In the 1881 census, Israel's birthplace was given as Germany. Leah was not listed, but her sister Matilda was.

Sophia married Hyman Harris on February 24, 1875 at the Congregation of the New Synagogue. The Stephany's then lived at 2 Brushfield St., Bishopsgate.

Hyman was the cemetery keeper of the Queens Elms Jews Cemetery Lodge, Fulham Road in 1881.

Sophia's siblings were Sarah (born abt. 1839), who married J. Tuchman of Portsea, Benjamin (born abt. 1844), Isabella (Bella) (born abt. 1849), who married Moss Corper, and Morris (born abt. 1854) who married a Jane.

I'd be interested in hearing from relatives.
