Hi Lloyd,

I am sorry, but I don;t know if John Sugars was our emigrant ancestor. My gut feeling is that he is not, but I have absolutley no evidence to justify that gut feeling.

As for your Sugars connection, you are barking up the wrong grandparent. It was Priscilla Blunt's mother who was the Sugars. Priscilla's parents were Benjamin Blunt, born abt 1707/8, died 1752 in Southampton County, VA and Priscilla Sugars, born abt 1717 and died in 1782 in Southampton. Priscilla Sugars was the daughter of John Sugars and Elizabeth Swan.

So, like the rest of us, you descend from the only Sugars in America discussed on this page.

You and I share Blunt ancestors, too - I descend from Benjamin Blunt and Priscilla Sugars through their daughter Ann Blunt, sister to your Priscilla. Ann Blunt married Jacob Turner. Jacob Turner had a brother named John and I would not be surprised to learn that this was your John, but I cannot say for sure that it was. There were a number of Turner/Blunt marriages in that period.

Benjamin Blunt's parents were Thomas Blunt, born about 1656, died 1709 and Priscilla Browne. Thomas Blunt was the son or Richard Blunt and Mary ???.

I have info on the Brownes, too. Email me directly if you are interested.
