Dear Helen,

My husband's grandfather, William Tait (occupation Baker) resided at 87 Wilson Street, Alexandria, married Margaret Taig Lynn, resided at 1 Wilson Street, on June 26, 1905.
William died in 1957 and Margaret in 1938.

Their marriage certificate states that William's father, William Tait, was a coalminer and his mother, Marion Irvine Tait, was deceased at the time of their marriage. They were married at Church Hall, Alexandria.

Witnesses were William's brother John Irvine Tait and Margaret's sister, Mary Lynn.

Minister: William Simpson. Registrar: Robert Brown.

Margaret's parents were Henry Lynn, Boat Hirer, Bonhill (deceased) and Margaret (Taig) Lynn.

William and Margaret emmigrated to the USA on the Caladonia in 1923. They had two children, William Tait born in 1906 (died 1977) and Harry Lynn Tait born in 1915 (died 1973).

William married Elizabeth Armstrong (from the same area in Scotland) and had one daughter Nancy, who now lives in Grants Pass Oregon.

Harry Lynn Tait married Ruth Mary Rodgers and had two sons, Richard Harvey Tait and William Lynn Tait.

I am William's wife. We have three children, Juliann, Margaret, and William.

Rick married Kathleen Moore. They had two sons, Scott Andrew and Christopher Wiiliam.

All of us live in Michigan with the exception of Scott who is a Lt. Commander in the Navy and is in California after returning from Iraq.

I, nor did any of Bill's family, knew that the "original" William came from Ireland. They thought that the family always came from Scotland. Previously, I had found that Henry Lynn came from England.

I am also researching both sides of my family. One, of course, from Scotland (but did find my g.g. grandfather Duke came from Ireland). I can't find ANY Peat family members. The others are from Wales and Germany.

I am sorry I don't know about the Ireland connection, but thought you might enjoy hearing about this part of the family (to add futher confusion). I find this mind-boggling at times.

Sincerely, Suzanne
