My great grandmother, Winnifred Tanney was born in St. Catherine's Ontaario around 1845. She married Richard Francis Nantelle and lived in Saginaw , Michigan. She died there in 1923. I am searching for information on the various spellings of this surname. Tanney/Tunney/Tenney....all spellings appeared in civil registers and "atlas" materials as well as census materials. Her mother was Brigid McGowan from Sligo , Ireland. Her father was Luke Tunney from Antrim, Ireland. I need a point of origin for these people. I think they came through Grosse Isle, Canada but am not sure. Please help with any information by emailing me. Thanks.
