Dennis, I just saw your post as I have not done any research for about 4 years now, but felt I would go ahead and reply just on the off chance you haven't had any answer.
John's father Jacob (who was born 1812 in TN) had a brother James (born 1815 in TN - they migrated to MO with their parents James and Susannah (nee Ham) at some point).
James had a daughter Mary Ellin who was born 1844 in Saline Co., MO. She married twice but I only have uncovered partial names. The first husband was named Dennis and I do not have a surname. The second husband's last name was Hauck - I do not have a first name.
This does not appear to tie in with the Mary you are trying to connect with Bill Toothman but maybe this info will help you in some way.
