Becky,
In the book "Rowan County, North Carolina Tax Lists 1757-1800", the author, Jo White Linn, annotates the lists and beside the surname of Tigert she notes to "see also 'Tucker'"

She has transcribed many Rowan Co. records/documents and is quite knowledgeable of the area. And, she still lives there.

I am researching Tucker and I am very interested in the Andrew Tigert who appears on the 1787 tax list. He is listed as follows:

1 White male 21-60
3 White males -21 or 60+
4 White females

In the 1798 Tax List he is listed as "Not Returned". So, he either moved or was deceased.

On the 1794 Tax List, a John Tygart is listed with 100 acres of land and 1 white poll.

Andrew Tigert/Tagert was also listed on the 1778 Rowan Co. Tax List. He is listed with property valued at 376 pounds.

This Andrew Tigert/Tagert was probably the same Andrew Tegert that you found on the 1790 Rowan Co. Census. Do you have any more information on him or the John listed above?
