On my family web site you can view a photograph taken in 1896 of the teacher and students at Beach Hill School, Bedford County, Tennessee:

Beech Hill School was located on Anthony Branch Road on a prominent hill. (The property is now owned by Jay Brinkley.) The land was originally donated by Haskel Shofner for the school. It would serve the community between Thompson Creek and Willow Grove School on Shipman’s Creek.
Miss Gertie Ferguson was the teacher.
