Randy,
Got the Letter from CC Bearden on the web you posted..
Would suppect that D
Docia Gowen is releated to the Gowens of Spartanburg SC..John Bearden Sr lived near them and Edmund Bearden Married a Gowen. John "Buck" Gowen was a distinguished Officer in the SC Home Guard that led to the defeat of the British. He was given land grants and gave Edmund some land when he married his daughter. Edmund was a son of John Bearden SR and moved to Kentucy after the Revol War.(was a ministerin the Reedy Creek area near Spartanburg.

Docia could have moved to Flat Creek or followed John Bearden Jr or one of the kin folks to the area. CC would likely be a distant cousin.

Best
Lawrence Bearden (diret decendent of CC and Henry Clay
Hope your well Send me a note if you have found out any information on Henry Clay..I found him living with William H Johnston and wife Mary(HC Daughter in the 1910 census) in Wilson, Texas He is 53 and William H Johnston is from Cado Ark..make sense since HC relocated the family there and the kids are named Clarlie C and family names..no mention in the 1920 census of HC or Mary his daughter.
