George Webb came to Stewart County about 1818, the part of Stewart County that now is Houston County, TN. With George I believe some of his brothers and his married sons came also. Three known sons were William Webb 1809, David Webb 1804 and George Webb 1785. George Webb 1785 settled in the corner of Carroll, Benton and Decatur Counties in Tennessee close to Holladay, TN. Neither of the George Webb's left a will so tracing their descendants has been quite difficult, only with family history to go on. But with DNA and the WEBBSURNAME WEBSITE, any male with the surname of Webb can join and do the easy DNA for genealogy. It certainly has set a new method of researching your ancestors. We already have a match for this line and need more who would like to find their roots in the Webb Family. I think his brother William Webb who married Elizabeth Grimes in Orange County, NC came to this area also. Email me if you have questions at sherrysj@mchsi.com.
