DANIEL RICE and wife Julith or Julia?

We have found a Daniel and Judith Rice as members of the Big Pigeon Creek Baptist Church in what today is Cocke Co, TN, from 1789 to 1812, and a Daniel RICE receives a NC land grant in Greene Co, TN in 1890, south of the Nolachuckey. The church would have been in Greene Co, TN at that time. The land and the church are south of the "Chucky."

A 1914 family letter, written by a grandson of Daniels, states Daniel's wife is Julia, we think the above is our couple.

According to the 1914 letter Daniel has at least one other son "might be" named William, but name is vague. Daniel's son Joseph and his brother argued over the Civil War and apparently never had contact again. Joseph was Southern, his brother was very Northern.

We know so little on Daniel. I did a time line on Daniel Rices in East TN records, and sorted out those "not" ours.

Someone has posted on another site some information on Daniel Rice and wife Judith Burreff, but they do not know the source of that maiden name. I think someone has seen an old original record with the old funny style of double "s" and read it as "f." Could Judith's maiden name be Burress? There is a Judith Burris, widow of Rev Soldier Solomon Burris in NC, but she does not remarry. They had a daughter Judith, but she was born 1795, too young to be Daniel Rice's wife on the church record.

Daniel RICE was in Rhea Co, TN, and as Justice of the Peace performed a marriage in 1816. The only record on him to surface there, so far. But, his son Joseph RICE b 25 Dec 1800 somewhere in TN, m Elizabeth MILLER 16 Dec 1819 in Rhea Co, TN. Joseph is on a few more records before he moves his family to Bledsoe Co, TN - 1830 census. Daniel is on one tax record for Bledsoe Co, TN, in 1836. Daniel seems to only generate one record in any area, that we can find.

Spencer Rice also received a NC Land Grant located south of the Nolachuckey, is he any kin to Daniel??? Did Daniel come from NC or VA?

I will soon be going to Salt Lake City, so any clues would be appreciated. I will gladly share back on anything found with help from your clues.
