We need to know if anyone researching CARROLL CO. TN Families had a REBECCA who was born abt. 1790 in NC ( probably born in the counties surrounding Montgomery Co. NC or in Montgomery itself ). Rebecca Unknown married Basil Rogers most likely in Montgomery Co. NC as he is found on the 1816 Montgomery Co. NC Court House Petition he signed then with his father William (L ) Rogers of Montgomery Co. NC. You had to be a resident of Montgomery Co. NC to sign this petition. By Feb. 18, 1823 Basil Rogers was a witness to the deed by his Father, William Rogers, when they sold their Rogers lands along Long Creek, in Montgomery Co. NC. The purchaser of their Rogers lands was Mathias Barringer, and the other witness to this deed in 1823 was an E. McLESTER, thought to have been EDMOND McLESTER the son of DANIEL and MARY McLESTER of Montgomery Co. NC. Edmond McLester stayed in Montgomery Co. NC and died there, but his brother ZADOK McLESTER moved to HENRY CO. TN, near Carroll Co. TN. Meantime, our Rogers left Montgomery Co. NC after Feb. 18, 1823 and Basil Rogers is then shown on the 1830 Carroll Co. TN census as BARZILE RODGERS RODGERS, BARZILE 21100 1000 0000 11100 1000 ( Basil Rogers b. 1794 son of William b. 1770 ) Per 1830 Carroll Co. TN site transcription of census enumerations : 0202101 0 01110010 Using the blank Ancestry.com 1830 census with headings showing Basil's listing as : 0male under five 2 males : of five and under ten 0male of 10 and under 15 2 males of 15 and under 20 1 male of 20 and under 30 0male of 30 and under 40 1 male of 40 and under 50 ( Basil b. abt. 1794 NC per tombstone data, would have been at age 36, so enuemrations on census, or date of birth for Basil may be off ) 0female under five 1 female of five and under 10 b. bet. 1820-1825 1 female of 10 and under 15 b. bet. 1815-1820 1 female of 15 and under 20 b. bet. 1810-1815 0female of 20 and under 30 0female of 30 and under 40 1 female of 40 and under 50 ( Rebecca b. abt. 1790 NC would have been at least 40 then ) We also know that Basil Rogers became a Judge and Justice of Peace for his Dist. 17 in Carroll Co. TN, and that he had many court records during those duties. Most of the ROGERS family lived in Dist. 17 but for Basil's brother JAMES ROGERS whom I believe lived in Dist. 10 and shown in the 1850 Carroll Co. TN as JAMES ROGERS with wife ARAMINTA ( Araminta Green, dau. of AARON GREEN, Sr. and wife ELIZABETH ROWLAND ). We know that the ROWLANDS, GREENS, FIELDS, LILES and others also had intermarried into this ROGERS Family in Carroll Co. TN. My direct line is out of William L. Rogers to his son BASIL ROGERS and wife REBECCA UNKNOWN to their son GREEN D. BERRY ROGERS and his wife SIDNEY "Sidy" FIELDS, and to their son WILLIAM MANUEL ROGERS b. 1857 Carroll Co. TN ; d. 1906 in Boone Co. AR. We are most anxious to find the maiden name of REBECCA ROGERS as she is my GG Grandmother. Anyone who can help point the way, please post or e-mail me.
