I found the following posted on the Ward family board:

8 February 1800: Carter County, Tennessee Deed Book A, page 247: WILLIAM ROBERTS & AMY/ANNY, his wife conveyed to JOSHUA WARD, for "the price agreed upon", 50 acres, granted in North Carolina to Jacob Wilder and sold by Wilder to said Roberts, on the south side of the Watauga River, above the plantation where Charles Asher formerly lived. The deed was proved in February Court 1800.

17 February 1801, Carter County, Tennessee Deed Book A, pages 442 & 443: JOSHUA WARD and his wife, & WILLIAM ROBERTS & wife, conveyed to ROBERT PARSON, for an agreed price, 50 acres on the Watauga River, North Carolina grant to Joab (Jacob) Wilder. John Henson, Jurat & James

I believe that the William and Anny Roberts are William ROBERTS and Ann VANDERGRIFF that moved to Grainger County about 1801. I would appreciate additional information, or suggestion as to where in the county this property is located.
