My cousin found this in an old Carter Co. newspaper: "John C. Smith dropped dead in the yard of Mrs. D. D. Jenkins while watching the Watauga Woolen Mill burn." May 8, 1895 Elizabethtown

Can anyone tell me anything about John C. Smith or about Mrs. D. D. Jenkins?
