I found this entry on the website “Political Graveyard” and would like assistance from anyone who might have information on this family. “Bray, W. M. Henderson, Chester County, TN Republican Alternate Delegate to Republican National Convention from TN 1900 Burial location unknown” I think this W. M. Bray is my great granduncle Winfield M. Bray (1839-1893) from North Carolina the son of Jeremiah S. Bray (1812-1894) and Elizabeth Lane (1808-1864). Jeremiah Bray is the son of Eli Bray (1778-1855) and Mary Cox (1783-1850). Eli Bray is the son of Henry Bray and Sarah Yokely. Great granduncle Winfield enlisted on 6/7/61 at Randolph County, North Carolina as a private and served in Company C., NC 1st Light Artillery. He was in the Confederate Army until paroled 5/23/65 at Greensboro, NC. Family legend says that after the Civil War he was so disgusted with Reconstruction he went to Mexico, fought for Maximillian, came back to Tennessee to live and eventually died in Paragould, Arkansas. Family legend also says that Winfield followed his cousin, Eli S. Bray, son of Solomon Bray and Sarah Brooks, to Tennessee and then to Arkansas. If anyone has any information about this family, I would appreciate your assistance. Clare Moore North Carolina Notify Administrator about this message?
